Sandra L. (Bomgardner) Bryner

Sandra Lee Bryner, affectionately known as “Sandy,” died on her favorite holiday of Thanksgiving, November 22, 2012, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown after a brief battle against cancer.
Sandy was born April 27, 1947, and spent her childhood in Lebanon. After graduating from Annville Cleona High School, she began a 23-year career as a PENNDOT supervisor. After retiring, Sandy was active in her community and an enthusiast fundraiser for the Lawn Fire Company, the Elizabethtown PTA and various church groups. She faithfully attended Falmouth United Methodist, where she was a beloved member of the congregation.
Sandy was a devoted wife to Lew Bryner, of Elizabethtown, for 39 years and considered her son Kevin, of Harrisburg, her pride and joy. Her pets over the years were also valued members of the family, including their current puppy, Rex.
An avid gardener, Sandy loved afternoons in the sun tending to her flowers and feeding the many bluebirds who considered her backyard home. While most comfortable at her dining room table clipping coupons or ensuring birthday and get-well cards promptly reached her many friends and family, she also enjoyed bus trips exploring the Mid-Atlantic.
Known for her thoughtfulness, Sandy spent much of her time assisting others, providing transportation and visiting people in need.
Sandy is survived by her husband and their son; a daughter-in-law, Quinn (Dinsmore) Bryner of Harrisburg; a sister, Barb Weidman of Lebanon; and three nieces. In death, she is reunited with her parents, Wayne and Anna (Ruhl) Bomgardner and a brother, Wayne, Jr.
A memorial service celebrating Sandy’s life will be held Dec. 2 at 2 pm at Falmouth United Methodist Church, 180 Falmouth Road in Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Sandy’s memory to The American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
