Samuel Francis Purcell, Jr., 43, of Palmyra, passed away at home in his sleep on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. He was born Monday, May 16, 1983 in Lebanon to the late Samuel Francis Purcell, Sr. and Wendy (Katzaman) Purcell Adams.

Sam was a beloved son, friend, and true salt-of-the-earth soul who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for his infectious, ear-to-ear smile and a presence that could light up any room, he lived life with a huge heart and a willingness to do absolutely anything for anyone.

A proud 2002 graduate of Palmyra Area High School, he spent his career working outdoors, doing what he loved. As a skilled equipment operator and CDL driver for Greenskeeper and Long’s Excavation, he was truly at home working with his hands. Whether operating heavy machinery or shaping the local landscape, his hard work and dedication were evident to all who worked alongside him.

His deepest passions, however, were rooted in nature. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and joy in hunting, fishing, and trapping. Among his most cherished memories were the times he spent out west; Montana and Wyoming held a special place in his heart, leaving him with a lifelong love for their rugged beauty and wild spaces.

Closer to home, he was an active and dedicated member of Dela-Ches Fishing Association, where he selflessly volunteered his time and skills wherever they were needed. He possessed a special passion for the annual Kids Fishing Derby, helping pass on his love for the sport to the next generation.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and unforgettable warmth. Though his massive presence will be deeply missed, his family and friends take comfort in knowing he is now free of his earthly body. Go hunt, fish and trap in heaven. You will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by five sibling, Renee Miller and husband Warren Miller, Jr. of Hershey, Ashlee Purcell and fiancé Ray Reynolds of Biloxi, Mississippi, Paul Purcell and wife Amy of Lititz, Christopher Purcell of Palmyra, Shawn Purcell of Palmyra; eight nieces and nephews, Austin Posey, Makayla Miller, Ben Siegrist, Kota Lundvall, MacKenzie Lundvall, Brantley Purcell, Carlene Purcell, Buckley Purcell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a step-father, Edwin Adams.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 30th at 11 AM at Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon, PA 17042 with Pastor John Lauver officiating.
