Ruth Elenora (O'Neal) Oliver

Ruth E. (O’Neal) Oliver, 93, of Annville, PA, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.  She was born in Campbelltown, PA on May 24, 1928.  Ruth was the daughter of the late Earl and Ada (Hitz) O’Neal.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Otis Shirley Oliver.

Ruth is survived by her three children; her daughter Sherry Sweigart and her husband Dale of Lebanon, her daughter Pamela Stanley and her husband James Jr.of Annville, and her son Steven Oliver and his wife Judy of Palmyra.  Also surviving are her five granddaughters and one grandson; Lisa Minich and her husband Gregory of Marysville; Jennifer Brubaker and her wife Stephanie of Harrisburg; Stephanie Reifsnyder and her husband Jason of Lititz; Caitlin Tice and her husband Gregory of Palmyra; Jessica Stanley of Lynchburg, VA; and James Stanley III of Annville.  In addition, there are four great grandchildren; Samantha Jennings, Broderick Reifsnyder, Preston Reifsnyder, and Oliver Tice.

To say that Ruth was a loving, compassionate, energetic, and productive woman would be quite an understatement.  Throughout her life, she was faced with many challenges and always met and solved them with grace.  Ruth was extremely family-oriented and made them a top priority.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She made countless precious family memories.   Another of her accomplishments was her instrumental contributions to the many family businesses. She worked productively and endlessly to ensure the success of her husband and to provide for her children.  Her relaxation time was few and far between, and usually centered around Penn State and Liberty University football.  She was a huge Nittany Lion and Liberty Flames fan.  Ruth also loved the ocean, and she went to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware as often as time would allow with her family and friends.  Finally, Ruth was a woman of faith.  It is comforting for all who knew her to know that she is now with her Lord and Savior and is at peace.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Campbelltown United Methodist Church located at 2760 Horseshoe Pike in Campbelltown.  A luncheon at the church will follow.  Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
