Ruth E. Fackler

Ruth Fackler passed away on July 18, 2026, at Oak Hill Village in Middletown, PA. Born on January 22, 1934, in Enhaut, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Francis (Hoover) Sheaffer. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Harold, in 2020. She graduated in 1952 from Swatara Township High School.

Ruth is survived by her brother, Arthur (Peggy) Sheaffer; daughter, Susan (Mark) Hosler; sons, Michael (Kathleen) Fackler, David (Shelley) Fackler, and James (Tammy) Fackler; grandchildren, Stephen (Amy) Hosler, Benjamin (Christina) Hosler, Rebekah Hosler, Lori (R. Anthony) Bianchi, Amy (Justin) Bowers, Aaron (Whitney) Fackler, Kelley (Shawn) Becker, Danielle (Christopher) Green, Sarah (Travis) Medlin, Adam Fackler, Emily (Joshua) Fackler‑Reese, Jacob (Natasha) Fackler, and Andrew (Tara) Fackler; 29 great‑grandchildren; 1 great‑great‑grandson; and nieces and a nephew.

As a member of Swatara Church of God, she taught Sunday School and served on the building committee. She was a talented musician, beginning with learning the accordion as a child. She also sang in the church choir and served as choir director. Ruth played both piano and organ, sharing her musical gifts at her church and at Oak Hill Village.

Ruth worked for the Camp Hill School District for many years in various positions. During her time there, she made several lifelong friends who continued to meet weekly for lunch.

The joy of her life was her family. She hosted family get-togethers and grandchildren’s sleepovers, and she organized family trips to Parker Dam, Philadelphia, Knoebels Grove, and other locations.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading and doing crafts such as stained glass, sewing, cross‑stitch, diamond dots, and playing bingo with her Oak Hill friends.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 11AM at Swatara Church of God, 4860 Lindle Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17111. Interment will follow in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin, PA. Family and friends are invited to view from 10AM until the start of the service.
