Ruth (Hickes) Baum

Ruth (Hikes) Baum, 91, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at home. Born Saturday, August 7, 1926 in Gardners, Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer H. and Esther C. (Bream) Hikes. She was married 51 years to Glenn S. Baum who passed away in August 1996.

Ruth was a member of Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren where she was involved with comfort knotting and church mailings. A homemaker, she also worked for Gene Wenger Meats and Baum’s Bologna. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #407, Elizabethtown and CPRS Fitness Center.

Surviving are two children: Larry G. Baum and wife Norma J. of Elizabethtown, and Carole B. Thomas and husband Richard H., III of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a twin sister Evelyn Waybright of Gettysburg.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 South Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14th at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in West Green Tree Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
