Ruth Ann (Dower) Bastress

Ruth Ann Bastress, 59, of Mechanicsburg, unexpectedly went to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, November 7, 2024. She was born on May 21, 1965 to the late Daniel J. and Marian Ruth (Wagner) Dower. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Lonnie Bastress.

Ruth was a graduate of Palmyra High School and Messiah College. She worked for the Commonwealth of PA Liquor Control Board. Her hobbies included genealogy and traveling with her husband on numerous ski trips. She enjoyed the simple things in life with her husband. She was a kind, loving, and gentle soul. Her love for her friends and family was a shining reflection of God’s love for us.

In addition of her husband she is survived by her brother, Daniel Dower and wife Melissa; nephews, Stephen Dower and Andrew Dower; nieces, Elizabeth Dower and Sarah Shellenberger; two great nephews; one great niece; mother-in-law, Jackie Bastress; sister-in-law; Tracy Bastress; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Bastress.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 11 AM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A time of viewing will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at the Middletown Cemetery, Middletown.
