Ruby L. (Laidig) Shiley

Ruby L. Shiley, 94, of Mechanicsburg, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg. Born in Taylor Twp., Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late R. Roy and Lilly Maye (Sipes) Laidig. She was the wife of the late John E. Shiley, Sr. who died in 1983.
Ruby was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown. She was a 1938 graduate of Central Penn Business College and was retired from Elizabethtown College where she was employed as a clerk/typist.
Ruby is survived by a daughter, Linda M. Shiley, Mechanicsburg; two sons: John E. Shiley, Jr. (Karen), Graniteville, SC and Mark D. Shiley (Larry Huzi) North Haven, CT; two grandchildren: Janna Borden and Jon Shiley; and two great grandchildren: Olivia and Ian Shiley.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Heefner and Ann Thomas.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 North Locust Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call on Monday at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Middletown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or to Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg or to Central PA Alzheimer’s Association.
