Ronald L. Bernhard

Ronald L. Bernhard, 76, of Elizabethtown, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 23, 2016 of natural causes.  He was born Friday, December 15, 1939 in Mastersonville to the late Walter and Margaret (Lehman) Bernhard.  He was married to Jeanette M. (Hixon) Bernhard on November 2, 1960.

Ron was a Veteran proudly serving with the U.S. Navy from 1958-1963.  He went on to retire from Sears Roebuck, Harrisburg where he worked for over 30 years.  Ron was easily recognized by his blue and white polka dot hat and bib overalls.  Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his devoted wife of over 55 years, Ron is survived by his three children; Peg Hayes, Deb Fogleman and husband Tom, Ronald L. Bernhard II and wife, Tonya, all of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren: Austin Hayes, Mitchell Bernhard, Kirsten Hayes Sauger, Braden Fogleman and Abbye Fogleman; two great grandchildren: Finley Hayes and Paisley Sauger.  Also surviving are four sisters; Shirley Grimm, Marilyn Bell, Sandy Vercuski and Linda Lukens.  He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Bernhard.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Conoy Brethren In Christ Church, 1722 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown, PA  17022 with Pastor Al Frank officiating.  Visitation will follow the service on Saturday.  Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.
