Ronald E Amick, 70, of Elizabethtown greeted his savior face to face when he passed away peacefully at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown on Friday December 6, 2013 with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Wanda Detwiler Amick with whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage. He was a dedicated father to his 3 sons, David married to Sherri, Shawn married to Cindy and Wade married to Katie, all of Elizabethtown. Ron was also admired by his grandchildren, Joshua Amick (married to Melissa), Lauren Amick Brock (married to Taylor), Marissa, Morgan and Landon Miller, and Fallon Amick.
A businessman, Ron was the General Manager of several cable TV systems in Pennsylvania retiring in August 2002. He was also an active member and contributor to the Elizabethtown and Mount Joy business communities. Ron will be remembered for his leadership, sense of humor, many friends and dedication to his family.
Ron graduated from Northern Bedford County High School, Bedford County, PA in 1961. After graduation from high school Ron served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electrician from 1961 to 1966. Ron also received his degree from Massey Technical Institute in Jacksonville, FL.
Ron enjoyed umpiring amateur softball for 25 years, golfing, bowling and camping in his motorhome “Winnie”. He was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State football. During his retirement years he enjoyed working part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction and traveling to Florida to volunteer at Wycliffe.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family. A memorial service honoring Ron’s life will be held at Community Bible Church, 331Anderson Ferry Road, Marietta, PA on Tuesday December 10, 2013 at 1pm. There will be a time to greet the family after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Masonic Village Hospice, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
