Roger A. Carpenter

Roger A. Carpenter, 86, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Hershey Medical Center. He was born Sunday, January 24, 1937 to the late Roger and Beulah E. (Shaeffer) Carpenter. He is survived by his loving wife, of 68 years, Anna R. (Barnhart) Carpenter.

Roger was a man with many passions, in the 1950’s to 1960’s he volunteer as a Palmyra firefighter and was a member of the JC’s. In the 1970’s into the 1990’s he was an avid golfer and spent a lot of his time at the Lebanon Country Club. Most recently he spent a lot of his spare time at the Palmyra bowling center where he was a skilled bowler. In addition, he drove the bowling bus for the youth bowlers. He also enjoyed fly fishing and was a member of the Susquehanock Fly Fishers. A member of the the Tulpehocken Rod and Gun Club, he also volunteered for many youth and veteran events. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

In addition to this wife he is survived by his children: Denise Beamenderfer and husband Gene, and Roger Carpenter, Jr.; grandchildren, Lindsay Helt, Megan Posey, Katie Carpenter, Nathan and Andrew Beamenderfer; great grandchildren, Cooper, Ethan, Luke, Savannah, Jordan, and Jocelyn; siblings, Loretta Landis, Faye Givler, Dorothy Hossler and husband Lee, and Dennis Carpenter and wife Diane; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11 AM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A time of visitation will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will be private at a later date at Grandview Memorial Park, Annville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
