Robert Hetrick Light

For 90 years Robert Hetrick Light, husband, father and grandfather loved and supported his family.  He passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Lancaster.  In June "Bob" celebrated his 90th birthday with a family party.

Bob was born Sunday, June 28, 1925 and he was a lifetime resident of Palmyra. Bob was the beloved husband of Juanita (Wilhite) Light, they were married for 68 years.  In December of 2014 Bob and Juanita relocated to Country Meadows in Lancaster.

Bob graduated from Palmyra High School in 1943. Like so many of his courageous generation, he enlisted in the US Army-Aircorp in January 1944.  He was stationed on the Island of Tinian.

Bob's family owned and operated Palmyra Auto Service.  He began working in the family business at a young age, seizing any opportunity he had.  Later he managed sales for the business, developing many loyal customers and friends.

Bob and Juanita were committed members of The Palmyra Church of the Brethren.

Upon retirement he filled his days with many hobbies & interests.  He was skilled at woodworking and kept an impeccable garden.  He was a member of the Studebaker Hunting Camp. His passion was his boat.  He enjoyed many happy hours sharing his boat with family and friends.  Bob and Juanita enjoyed numerous trips, cruises and vacations.

Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Juanita (Wilhite) Light, of Lancaster; two grateful children, Vicki (Light) Pike of Bordentown, NJ and Robert J. Light and wife Garnet of Palmyra; two grandchildren, Brian J. Pike and wife Marybeth of Robbinsville, NJ and Amanda (Pike) McCrum of Delran, NJ; four great grandchildren, Maddie and Jamison Pike, and Christopher and Tyler McCrum; a brother, Kenneth B. Light of Palmyra; a step granddaughter Michelle Cessna NuMine; three step great grandchildren, Johnathan, Ryan, and Addyson Cessna.  His mother Roberta Hetrick Light and father K. Byron Light predeceased him.

Some people come into our lives, and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same. Bob has left his footprints on his family.

A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held Monday, November 2nd at 2 PM at the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Dennis Lohr officiating.  Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W.
