Richie Alan Hench, 64, of Palmyra, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, November 3, 2022. He was born Tuesday, August 19, 1958 in Carlisle to the late Alvus E. and Connie (Knisely) Hench. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Anne M. (Slabonik) Hench.
Richie, affectionately named after Philadelphia Phillies great Richie Ashburn, graduated from Hershey High School in 1976 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1980 with a Bachelors Degree in Business. After graduation he joined his parents, working side by side, in the family business Aumen’s Paint and Wallpaper. He later took over the business and was the owner and operator until his retirement when son Derek filled the leadership role. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Richie’s friendly smile and larger than life personality will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons, Derek Hench and wife Cheyanne of Hershey and Alex Hench of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Stefanie (Hench) Demers and husband Cory of Harrisburg; a granddaughter, Adiley Grace Hench; a grandson on the way; two sisters, Linda Scott and husband Gregory of Hershey and Wendy Weary and husband Russell of Palmyra; two nieces, two nephews and numerous cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 10th at 11 AM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 AM until time of the service at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
