Richard Leroy Waters, Jr.

Richard Leroy Waters, Jr., 76, of Marietta, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Richard L. and Thelma (Smith) Waters. He was married to Cheryl (Harkins) Waters for 53 wonderful years.
Rich was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He attended Donegal High School and was a Sunday school teacher at Bethel AME Church in Marietta. He worked for Armstrong for 35 years until retirement. Rich was a member of the American Legion Post#466 in Marietta, and the Marietta Boat Club. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, spending time with his buddies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Cheri Waters of Marietta and Andre Waters of Mount Joy, two grandchildren: Colby and Dominique Waters, five great grandchildren, three nieces and nephews, and three siblings: Judith Waters of Marietta, Phillip Waters and wife Adrienne of FL, and Gregory Waters and wife Wanda K. of Marietta.
A Committal Service will be held at 11AM on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Marietta.
