Richard “RD” D. Miller
Richard D. Miller, 80, of Elizabethtown, Pa passed away on March 3, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. Richard was the son of the late Claude and Alma Miller, Quakertown.
Richard was married to Mary A. (Fischer) Miller and they would have celebrated their 60
th
Wedding Anniversary in May.
Richard was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Elizabethtown.
Richard graduated from Quakertown High School, West Chester State Teachers College and received his Master’s Degree at Temple University.
He served two years in the US Army.

In addition to his service to high school athletics, he created a community youth basketball program in 1963 that still exists today.
He initiated a plan that resulted in four lighted basketball courts in the community park. And for more than 20 years, he ran the summer park recreational program for local youth. In 2001, “RD” was inducted into the Quakertown-Pennridge Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a football, basketball, baseball and track athlete during his four years at Quakertown High School.
In 2008, Richard was inducted into the Elizabethtown Area School District Wall of Honor as the longest- tenured and one of the most successful coaches and administrators in the athletic programs history.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Richard is survived by two daughters, Cathleen A. Miller, Elizabethtown, Carole A. (Miller) Mohler, wife of Mitchell A. Mohler, Newmanstown, a son Rick A. Miller, East Petersburg, a grandson, Jason R. Keener, husband of Marisa (Weik) Keener, Elizabethtown; granddaughter Amy M. (Keener) Siegrist, wife of Corie L. Siegrist, Mount Joy; and two great-grandsons, Carter and Mason Siegrist.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30PM on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 247 South Market Street Elizabethtown, PA.
Visitation will be from 2:30pm until 3:30pm on Sunday, March 10, 2013 in the church.
Arrangements are under the care of the Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Elizabethtown.
