Richard Lynn McCall, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.  Born Sunday, October 9, 1927, in Huntingdon, PA, he was the son of Allison and Mildred (Black) McCall.  He was married to Shirley (Frymire) McCall for over 58 years until her death on March 10, 2014. Lynn’s siblings Elizabeth, John, and Clair predeceased him.

Lynn grew up on a 235 acre farm outside Huntingdon, and attended his first 8 grades in a one-room school house. He graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1945, and then studied chemical engineering at Penn State. After graduation from Penn State in 1950, he worked briefly for Owens Corning before being drafted for the Korean Conflict. Lynn served two years at the Army Chemical Center in Edgewood, MD. Upon completion of his service, he obtained a job with General Electric, where he worked until his retirement in 1989. Lynn taught at Delaware County Community College and Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades (now Williamson College of the Trades) upon leaving GE until he and Shirley moved to Elizabethtown.

Lynn was very active in his church and community. A long-time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ardmore, PA, Lynn sang in the choir and served on church council. He was a Past Master of Cassia Mt. Horeb Lodge #273, member of High Twelve, and Past Commander of Knights Templar. Lynn served as treasurer and board member of the Brookline Fire Company, Havertown, PA, and was honored with life membership in the fire company for his years of service. He was active in local politics and served on the Haverford Township School Board. He also served in various capacities for multiple Scottish societies.

After moving to the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, in 2007, Lynn sang for many years with the Men’s Chorus and participated in the men’s Bible study. He enjoyed being a member of the Rooster’s Woodshop. After the loss of his wife, he attended and then encouraged others to join the bereavement support group.

He is survived by two daughters: Dianne L. Heard, of Lansdowne, PA and Ellen M. Fischer, married to Gary, of Englewood, OH, and granddaughters Grace Heard and Katherine Fischer.  Also surviving are Lynn’s nieces, nephews, extended family and caring friends.
