Rev. Jay Robert Booser, 91, of Hershey, was quietly called by Jesus, into His presence on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family. He was born Tuesday, June 14, 1921 in Hershey to the late Paul E. and Martha M. (Keller) Booser. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Edith E. (Brunner) Booser on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.
Jay was a farmer at heart with a deep passion for people. His passion for people is what drove him and set the stage for evangelical ministry as a pastor followed later by a ministry to the hearing impaired through his ownership of the Beltone Hearing Aid Service of Lancaster, PA. All the while, he enjoyed living in his country childhood home, which enabled him to enjoy his love of the out of doors and his horses. He was an avid reader with a deep love of the scriptures and was known for his compassion and generosity in all areas of his life. Above all, he took profound pleasure in his family who have been blessed to call him Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.
Jay was hearing impaired as a child and took great pleasure in introducing the world of sound to those in need. His career as a Beltone Business owner spanned 45 years with no plans to retire. “I don't know why I should retire. The Lord controls the plans for my life. As long as I am able, I will be at it with a passion.”
He is survived by a son, Donald J. Booser and wife Helen of Hershey; three daughters, Janet R. Dick of Hershey, Marian L. Snyder and husband Gary of Palmyra; Deborah J. Bashore and husband Keith of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren, Kimberly Booser, Kylan Booser, Justin Dick, Brandon Dick, Cara Snyder, and Seth Bashore; two foster grandchildren, Ernest Wilcox and Aaron Smith; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
