Rev. Benjamin N. Dowdrick, Jr.

Reverend Benjamin N. Dowdrick, Jr., 78, of Annville, passed away peacefully in  his home with family by his side on Thursday, December 29, 2016.  He was born Wednesday, September 7, 1938 in Duncannon to the late Benjamin N., Sr. and Mabel Margaret (Miller) Dowdrick.  He is survived by his loving wife Catherine (Knight) Dowdrick.

Benjamin was class president of the Annville High School Class of 1957.  He was a member and past president of the Annville Alumni Association.  He retired from Hershey Foods with over 40 years in the shipping department.  He then served Balsbaugh United Christian Church in Hershey as their Pastor for many years.  Benjamin was on the Board at Countryside Christian Community. He had a passion for gardening and also enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing.  Most importantly he loved his family and he loved the Lord.

He is survived by 3 children, Kathy Dewalt and husband Michael, Michael Dowdrick and wife Shauna, and Sharon Furry and husband Mark; 7 grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Kyle Scheib) and Matthew Dewalt, Megan and Hunter Dowdrick, and Derek, Lauren, and Jared Furry; and 2 siblings, Donald Speck and Nancy Stamm.  He was predeceased by 2 siblings, Joe Dowdrick and Ruth Wiest.

Family and friends are invited for viewing on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11 AM at Annville United Christian Church, 245 W. Church St., Annville 17003.  Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service.  Burial will follow services in Broadview Cemetery, Hershey.
