(Ret.) Douglas Jackson, Pennsylvania State Police, 81, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday, December 8, 2023. He was born Tuesday, July 14, 1942, to the late Eugene and Rosalie (Bowman) Jackson. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Rosanne (Dziki) Jackson.
Doug was a 1960 graduate of William Penn High School, Harrisburg. He proudly served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 25 years. In his retirement, Doug enjoyed attending classic car shows and was a member of the Hershey Region Antique Automobile Club of America and the Country Cruisers of Lebanon County. Doug was also a member of the Brownstone Masonic Lodge in Hershey. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and he adored his three grandsons.
Doug is survived by his children: Douglas Jackson II and significant other Salena Herbinko, Stephanie Jackson-Grumbein and husband Michael Grumbein; and grandchildren: Cooper Jackson, Jackson Grumbein and Luke Grumbein. In addition to his wife and parents he is predeceased by sisters, Dixie Peters and Dawn McDonald.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St. Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father Anthony Dill officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service at 1200 PM. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
