Raymond M. “Ray” Bowers, 68, of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord after a long battle from complications after a double lung transplant at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born in
Florin, he was the son of the late George H. and Margaret (Myers)
Bowers. He was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Sager) Bowers. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 4th.
Ray worked as an upholsterer for almost 50 years and was the owner of Ray Bowers Auto and Furniture Upholstery in Elizabethtown. He was a faithful member of Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church and served on the Board of Directors of Mount Joy Gift and Thrift. He loved his family and enjoyed woodworking and fixing almost anything. Ray was also a member of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682, Elizabethtown, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and Zembo Shrine.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by a daughter Rae Ann,
wife of James Boozer, Elizabethtown; and two grandchildren, Jon and Becca Boozer.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: David, Robert and Richard Bowers.
A Funeral Service will held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 East High Street, Elizabethtown at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be Sunday at Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Interment will take place in West Green Tree Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Compassion Fund at Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church or Mount Joy Gift and Thrift.
