Randy was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 28, 1964 to the late Richard Schmidt and M. Louise (Edward) Zabinski who survives in Reading, PA. In addition to his mother, Randy is survived by the two greatest joys in his life, his children, Sara (Zachary Reese) Schmidt of Lancaster, PA and Jacob (Kayla) Schmidt of Muncy, PA. He is also survived by two grandsons, Riley and Ryder Schmidt of Muncy, PA; two brothers, David (Mary Beth) Schmidt of Street, MD and Jay (Kristine) Schmidt of Reading, PA; a sister, Karla (Keith) Nitz of Collierville, TN; a stepbrother, John (Jocelyn) Moyer of Wyomissing, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Randy graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1982. He attended Williamsport Area Community College and worked for many years at Watsontown Trucking Company as a diesel mechanic. At the time of his death, he worked for Cumberland Trucking Equipment in Carlisle, PA with many of his close friends.
Randy was always the life of the party. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watch Penn State football, go camping and fishing, and make everyone around him laugh with his sarcasm and lovingly insulting wit. He cared deeply about his family and friends and continually demonstrated this love through his loyalty, compassion, and support. He will be immensely missed by the many people who loved him.
