Pauline Mae (Knepper) Hostetler

Pauline M. Hartsock Hostetler, 87, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2014 in Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg. She was born Tuesday, November 9, 1926 in Shanksville, PA, to the late Royal and Blanche (Yoder) Knepper. She was predeceased by her loving husband James R. Hostetler.

Pauline taught Home Economics at Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, MD. She was a member of Palmyra Brethren in Christ Church and lived her faith in Christ. She was a student of the arts and an accomplished painter enjoying oil paints and water colors. Most importantly her perseverance and determination made her a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Denise Carr and husband Steve of Harrisonburg, VA, Romaine Hildebrand and husband Jack of Harrisburg, PA, and Sharon Cosner and husband Tim of Louisa, VA; a son, Frederic Hartsock and wife Susan of Aldie, VA; 3 step-children, Diane Summers of Palmyra, Vaughn Hostetler of Palmyra, and Donna Denton of Parkville, MD; 11 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Elizabeth Brougher, La Ferne Saylor, Roberta Guest, and Royal Knepper, Jr.. She was predeceased by a son, Gregory S. Hartsock; and 4 siblings, Ruth Saylor, Bernice Carbaugh, Miles Knepper, and Clifford Knepper.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Somerset County Memorial Park, 104 New Centerville Rd., Somerset, PA 15501 with Dr. Ron Beachley and Pastor Linda Beachley officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
