Patricia L Vipond on Friday June 13 left this world, where she found sorrow, and much joy, to enter a heavenly world filled with much more joy, and no pain or sorrow. Patty was born to Charles and Pauline Vipond, in Altoona, PA on Aug. 11 1940. Having spent her younger days in various homes and intuitions in the Altoona and Selinsgrove area, she applied for work at the Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown, PA starting at age 29, in Aug. 1969, retiring Aug. 2002. She came to the retirement home with much apprehension and fear. However, it soon became her home, and her family. Patty became everyone’s friend, and was known to all who worked and lived here, in the village. She will be missed by Pat & Mike Hamilton, with whom she spent many holidays. She was a member of First Church of God in Elizabethtown, and was known for being at all church functions requiring food and beverages, working tirelessly in the kitchen. Those of us who worshipped with her, were never surprised when she would speak up, requesting prayer for others. Her church friends, Carol Grim and Dottie Nellenbach spent endless times playing card games and spending time together. Patty is survived by a brother Charles (Sylvia)Vipond, in Attleboro, MA, nephews Douglas Vipond, Venice, CA, Ronald Vipond, Altoona, PA, nieces Lori (Robert) Letourneau, Pawtucket. RI Deb (Robert)Long, Veronica Vipond and Bonnie Wererick, all Altoona PA. Patty was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Vipond, Sr.
Patty was definitely a child of God and, in her own way, shared the love of Jesus with all.
Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 1 at 2:00 pm at the Roosevelt Assembly Room. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown for the Employee Assistance Fund and mailed to Masonic Villages, Office of Gift Planning, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
