Natale Vincent Tacchino III, also known as Poppy, passed away on September 23, 2023, in Tremont, PA. He was born on May 28, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA. Nat was a beloved father and grandfather leaving behind cherished memories. Poppy had a quick mind and was known for his unmatched wit, sense of humor, and a penchant for obscure facts. He had a vibrant personality that lit up any bar he tended.
In his early years, Nat pursued higher education graduating from Millersville and going on to Temple where ye earned a masters degree in secondary education. Additionally, he played semi-pro football for the Harrisburg Caps. After a brief career as a teacher & acting principal in the Lancaster Area school district he found a true passion in the restaurant industry. Early on he managed Bayshores, The Dunes, and The Old Colony Inn. Poppy then went on to own The Illusion Nightclub, Yesterday's, and Natales Pizza, he later retired as a bartender from Lucy's Cafe and The BrickHouse.
Outside of work, Nat was a dedicated Steelers fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite team. He loved spending his Sundays poolside enjoying epic cookouts with family and friends. Nat had a refined palette and enjoyed his midnight snack of bologna, Utz chips, celery & Miller Lite; he also never met an over he didn't like.
Nat is survived by his loving sons, Jarrad Hetrick, Natale Tacchino IV, (married to Marta) and his favorite daughter, Jesseca West, (married to Wayne) He enjoyed being PopPop to Maddi, Delainey, Eric, Izabella, and Natale V. Nat was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Natale Jr, and his sisters, Madonna and Ginny Lee.
A tribute to this legend will be held on October 15 at 11 am at Chick's Tavern in Hummelstown. It will be a time to celebrate Poppy's remarkable life and honor his memory.
