Nancy Joann Adamson Love of Palmyra Pennsylvania and formerly of Chattanooga, Tennessee died Friday, 23 January 2015 at the Penn State, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Ms. Love was born 28 January 1930 in Leavenworth, Kansas where she resided with family until she and her parents moved to Parsons, Kansas, and later Trion, Georgia. In 1945, the family ultimately settled in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she completed her secondary education at City High School (1947) and attended college at the University of Chattanooga. While in college, Ms. Love was the Phi Mu Sorority. While at the University, Ms. Love completed her Bachelor’s Degree and became licensed as a “Registered Medical Technologist” in 1951.
While working in Chattanooga, Ms. Love was introduced to and later married Frank K. Love, an Army Veteran of World War II and college student. The couple was married on the 6th of September, 1953 in Chattanooga. They later moved to Athens, Georgia where Frank attended veterinary school and later graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia on 10 June 1957.
After graduation, the couple moved back to Chattanooga and established their residence and business together. Together they successfully established and ran the Highland Veterinary Clinic in Hixson, Tennessee. Ms. Love assisted her husband in the day to operation while making a home for her husband and caring for two children that followed, Mark Kelly Love in 1959 and Patricia Ann Love in 1962. They were faithful members of Central Presbyterian Church. After her husband died in 1976, Ms. Love returned to the medical profession and worked at Memorial Hospital as a Medical Technologist. The family lived in Chattanooga for over 40 years until Ms. Love relocated to Palmyra, Pennsylvania to be closer to family.
While living in Palmyra, Ms. Love quickly made friends in the area and found a new faith home at Derry Presbyterian Church of Hershey. She also worked diligently to stay in contact with friends and relatives of the Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. She immensely loved to travel throughout the world, and play bridge with her friends. An animal lover, she always had cats and when able, dogs to keep her company at home.
Ms. Love is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Frank K. Love, natural father E. Sloan Adamson, step father, Dr. Edward E. Chambers, her mother Naomi B. Chambers, and a sister, Patricia S. Tracy.
Survivors include, two children, Mark K. Love, of Birmingham Alabama and Patricia Ann Mailander (Love) of Palmyra, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Maureen Mailander and Katherine Love; three grandsons, David Love, Matthew Mailander, and John Love; and 2 siblings, Fred Adamson and Sandi Occhialini.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Derry Presbyterian Church at 1:30 PM, Rev. Dr. Richard Houtz presiding. Burial will be at a later date set by the family in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc..
