Miriam U. Kegerize, 92, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2026, in Elizabethtown. Born in Canton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Burtrude E. (Spafford) Underwood. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Bruce R. Kegerize, who passed in 2010.
Miriam was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at the State Hospital for Crippled Children in Elizabethtown, Hershey Medical Center, and Highmark.
She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and centered her life on His teachings. She went on mission trips and assisted in nurse’s training at a medical clinic in Bangladesh. Miriam was a parish nurse and deaconess at Market Square Presbyterian Church and a member of Bichon Frise Club of America. She lived in retirement at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Miriam enjoyed dog-breeding, gardening, and sewing.
She is survived by her three children, David B. Kegerize (Nancy), Ann Kegerize Gecelosky, and Joan Kegerize (Alexander Prezioso); six grandchildren, Jonathan (Abby), Kristen (Brandon), Matthew (Anne), Kristina (Johnny), Nicholas, and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Quinn, Laine, and Iris; and one sister, Jane Miller (Forney). She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; and her husband, Herb Hartman (and his son Danny); her sister, Ellen and husband, Edwin; and her sister-in-law, Eve Tober.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11AM at John S. Sell Chapel, Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Family and friends are invited to view from 10AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Hershey Cemetery, Hershey, PA.
