Mildred H. Ness, 98, of Mountville, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Columbia. Born in Strasburg, she was the daughter of the late Galen E. and Ottelia (Eberly) Eckman. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow W. Brown, and her second husband Franklin E. Ness.
Mildred was a homemaker for most of her life, but did work during wartime when her husband was deployed. She always kept herself active no matter what stage of life she was in. She had a caregivers heart was the most devoted mother, grandmother, and foster mother anyone could want.
She is survived by three children: Judy Kurtz of Mountville, Thomas Brown & wife Sherry of Marietta, and Roxanne Nein of Columbia; 8 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; and numerous foster children. She was also preceded in death by 13 siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
