Michael E. Greider

June 11, 1959 — December 22, 2015

Michael E. Greider, 56, of Millersville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital of natural causes. Born Thursday, June 11, 1959 in Lancaster, he was the son of Berneda J. (Charles) Greider and the late Harold H. Greider.  He was married to Lynn M. (Bauman) Greider on July 20, 2007.

Mike was a talented woodworker and was employed at J.C. Snavely & Sons, Inc., Lancaster.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time at the Indian Run Hunting Camp in Potter County, PA.  He was also an accomplished fast pitch softball pitcher in the Lancaster area..  Above all, Mike was a devoted husband, cherished father, caring brother, loving son and a true friend who was always there for his family and those he cared about.  Mike was there to share a joke, give support, back you up, have a shoulder to cry on and an ear to confide in as well as offer support and advice.

In addition to his loving wife of over 8 years, he will be lovingly missed by his children, Emily S. Greider, of Philadelphia and Benjamin M. Greider, of Lancaster; two step-children, Tyla M. McFail, wife of Robert and Dakota S. Bachman, both of Pequea; his mother, Berneda, of Millersville; siblings Kathleen J. Greider, wife of Jane E. Heckles, of Claremont, CA and Thomas H. Greider, husband of Kristine, of Lancaster and Tom and Kristine’s children, Kelsey R. Greider, of York and Derek T. Greider, of Lancaster, as well as Mike’s extended family and caring friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Millersville Mennonite Church, 437 Manor Avenue (Route 999), Millersville, PA  17551 with the Reverend Timothy J. Patterson officiating.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a viewing at the church on Monday evening from 6:00-9:00 PM and also on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Burial will be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s Memory to the LGH Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, 555 North Duke Street, Lancaster, PA  17602.
