Menno Gruber


Menno “Jim” Gruber, 90, formerly of Bainbridge, passed away in the loving arms of his Savior with family by his side on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Landis Homes in Lititz. He was born Monday, January 9, 1922 in Conoy Twp., to the late Norman and Mary (Frey) Gruber. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty M. (Keener) Gruber.

Menno devoted his life to his work as a farmer. He enjoyed going to farm sales with his brothers. He proudly served his country in the Army. He was a member of Elizabethtown United Zion Church where he faithfully worshiped and served in various capacities for 43 years. He attended Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, was a hunter in his early years, and most importantly was a loving family man, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Glenn L. Gruber; 3 daughters, Carol A. Martin, Lois E. Good and husband Harold, and Marilyn F. Keller and husband Donald; 3 grandchildren, Heather Diener, Justin Gruber, and Chasity Saenz; 3 great grandchildren, Bradley Loyd, and Brent and Abby Saenz; and 8 siblings, Alta Bowers, Roy Gruber, Katie Olweiler, Raymond Gruber, Elmer Gruber, Clayton Gruber, Ruth Snyder, and Edna Tyson. He was predeceased by a son, Donald Gruber; and 4 siblings, Emma Shirk, Anna Hetrick, Edith Arnold, and Dorothy Walmer.

Family and friends are invited for viewing on Wednesday, November 28th from 6-8 PM at Landis Homes, East Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 29th at 11 AM at Goods Mennonite Church, 4374 Bossler Rd., Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Rev. Harold Brandt and Pastor Nelson Bechtold officiating, with viewing from 10 AM until time of the service. Burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Landis Homes Caring Fund, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543.
