Melvin E. Aldinger
November 4, 1940 — April 15, 2016
Melvin E. Aldinger, 75, of Marietta, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at home. Born Monday, November 4, 1940, he was the son of the late Herman and Miriam (Gibble) Aldinger. He was married 47 years to Sandra (Loucks) Aldinger who died in February of 2009.
Melvin was the former co-owner of Aldinger’s News Agency in Marietta and was retired from Redner’s Market where he worked as the meat manager. He served as a part-time police officer in Marietta from 1970-84, and was a former member of the Marietta Pioneer Fire Company and a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, also in Marietta.
Melvin is survived by three children: Jody, wife of Bill Shireman, Kingston, GA; Jeff Aldinger, husband of Dana (Yingst), Elizabethtown and Troy Aldinger of Washington, DC; six grandchildren: Tyler and Austin Aldinger, Mike, Chris, Nick and Curt Shireman; ten great grandchildren and three brothers: Glenn, Stanley and Larry Aldinger.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1290 River Road, Marietta at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Mount Joy Cemetery.
