Melvin E. (Mel) Fawber, passed away on December 11, 2016 at Fox Rehab in Mechanicsburg, PA after a very long illness. Born November 26, 1935 to the late William and Ada (Corsnitz) Fawber of Hershey, PA.
Mel leaves behind his loving wife of 19 years Theresa (Fusco) Fawber; 2 step sons, James Stevens and wife Lois and Richard Stevens and wife Mary; his son, Lester Fawber; 2 daughters, Donna Fawber-Via and Maryann Fawber; his grandchildren, Donovan Jones, Amanda Weeks and husband Bob, Eric, Kyle, and Brianna Stevens, Kahlem and Kolin Fawber, Shane and Kyra Via; 4 great grandchildren, Ava Lynn and Reece Weeks, Mikayla and Nathaniel Jones.
Mel is survived by his brother Marlin Fawber who was beside him through his long illness; his sisters Shirley Staub and Marguerite Fawber and the late Linda Fawber; his loving nieces and nephews; and many very dear and wonderful friends.
Mel graduated from Hershey High School, class of ’54, where he was on the football and wrestling teams. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He graduated from LaSalle College where he majored in Business. He worked at the Hershey Factory, Jones Motor Company of Spring City, PA, Smith Beecham Pharmaceutical and Quest Diagnostics of Camp Hill where he retired as Supervisor in 2003. He then took a part time job at Manheim Auto auction.
Mel enjoyed many activities, bowling, skiing, acting in the Forge Theater Community Playhouse of Phoenixville. He enjoyed watching all sports and even received his private pilots license.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11 AM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078 with The Rev. Ursula E. Schreffler officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in Union Deposit Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association in his name will be greatly appreciated.
