Matthew Bashista, 33, of Elizabethtown, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2016, in Delaware
County, PA. He was a 2001 graduate of Elizabethtown Area School District. He had an Associates
Degree in Nanofabrication Technology from Harrisburg Area Community College and studied Civil
Engineering at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.
Matthew was intelligent and loquacious, able to talk to anyone on any subject. He liked Jeopardy,
listening to “All Things Considered” on National Public Radio and reading anything he could get his
hands on. His passion was rock climbing and some of his climbs can be found on mountain project.
He was awarded 2 first place trophies in the 1998 Pan-Am Tang Soo Do International Championship
competition in York. He achieved Life Rank in the Boy Scouts of America, as well as membership in
Order of the Arrow.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Kathleen Bashista, Elizabethtown; brother, Patrick Bashista,
Elizabethtown; sister, Amanda Bashista, Marietta; great aunt, Doris Hess, York; uncle, Ronald P.
Snyder Sr. (JoAnn), York; aunt, Janice Julius, Hollidaysburg; cousins Ronald P. Snyder, Jr., York;
PattiJo Snyder Twite (Allen), Missouri; Stephen Julius, Hollidaysburg; Destiny Snyder, York;
Cheyanna Snyder, Ohio; as well as extended family in Idaho.
Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the Access Fund, P.O. Box 17010,
