Mary Ann I. (McKean) Dobroski, 91, of Hershey, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022, at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born Thursday, August 13, 1931, in Rochester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas I. and Margaret H. (Tubetto) McKean. She was married to Robert R. Dobroski, in Pittsburgh, on May 29, 1954. Robert passed away on March 12, 2014.
Mary Ann was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey. From a very early age, Mary Ann excelled at many creative activities. She was an excellent cook and baker which she first learned from her maternal grandmother. Mary Ann also enjoyed many crafting mediums such as sewing, painting, and she loved holidays, especially Christmas. Memories of her many handcrafted decorations, clothing, daily meals plus holiday feasts and sweets prepared for her large extended family and friends are treasured by all. Mary Ann’s love of dogs started at the age of 12 when she was gifted Skippy and continued throughout her full life with many K-9s including a beloved Bison Frise named Sally who survives her. Mary Ann was a life-long servant of others and also relished the comradery of community gardening in retirement to support those around her. The treasures of her long life include her extended family, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and beach vacations.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia Coxon and eight children: Rick D. Dobroski, of Pittsburgh, Mark T. Dobroski, married to Laurie Schick-Dobroski, of Lebanon, Susan M. Dobroski, of Asheville, NC, Barbara A. Hauck, married to Mark, of Harrisburg, Mary Jane Herr, married to Robert, of Hummelstown, Nancie J. Hart, engaged to Ward Blackwell, of Camp Hill, Patricia M. Repetto, of Hershey, and Don A. Dobroski, of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Sarah Gladd, of Pittsburgh, Darren, Dobroski, of California, Jason Rauck, of Texas, Garrett Rauck, of Pittsburgh, Tony Menginie, married to Amanda, of Etters, Christina Foultz, married to Corey, of Lewisberry, Gwen Zander, married to Paul, of Hummelstown, Elizabeth Hauck, of Hummelstown, Colbe Herr, of Florida, Kiersten Herr, of Vancouver, Canada, Madison S. Hart, of New York City, Kaeli E. Hart, of New York City, and Pierce R. Hart, of Camp Hill; Great-Grandchildren: Tyler Bruder, and Emma Menginie, Harper Foultz, and Arden Zander, as well as Mary Ann’s extended family and caring friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry P. Dobroski, of Harrisburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033, with Father Josh Weaver as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of the mass on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
