Mary K. Mummert

Mary K. Mummert, 83, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was born May 22, 1943, to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Clonch) Strome. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Eric Mummert.

Mary was born in Fairborn, Ohio where at a young age she excelled in baton twirling. By the age of 16 she had achieved multiple trophies and awards including becoming Grand National Champion two years in a row for baton. Besides spending time with her children and friends Mary's favorite past times include watching thunderstorms, camping, bonfires, s'mores, cold beer, and listening to old time country music. Mary enjoyed visiting and talking with her extended family in Florida, El Paso, and Arizona. Mary was very patriotic, enjoyed all animals, NASCAR, and watching her Cincinnati Bengals. More than anything she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Lhonda Kanode and Lonnie Coots and wife Missy; grandchildren, Kirsta and husband Josh, Alexa, Logan, Dakota, Ian and wife Taylor, Wade; great grandchildren, Alana, Hailey, Easton, Amelia, Asher, Alastair, Naomi and Ash. She was predeceased by a son, Robert “Bobby” Chura.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11 am at John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. A time of visitation will be held from 10 am until the start of the service. Burial will be private.
