MARIAN K. ROLAND

Marian K. Roland, 91, formerly of Mount Joy, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, June 23, 2014.

She was born on November 8, 1922 in Elizabethtown to the late S. Paul & Ruth (Shiffer) Kiefer.

Marian was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and West Chester State Teachers College. She was retired from the Donegal School District where she was a fifth grade teacher.

She was a member of Mount Calvary Church, Elizabethtown, where for many years she served as the church pianist. She was a volunteer with Child Evangelism Fellowship and also Meals on Wheels. Marian enjoyed reading and faithfully read the Bible in its entirety every year, she was also a gifted letter writer which she used to stay in touch with her many friends and family members.

She was the widow of Lester W. Roland.

Surviving are her two daughters Cynthia M. Field of Mt. Joy, Nancy B. Melhorn and her husband Rev. John A. of Essex, MD, four grandchildren Jennifer L. Field, Melissa J. Zeager and her husband Chris, Matthew R. Melhorn, Andrew S. Melhorn, three great grandchildren Jonathan Hagen, Madeleine Zeager and Elliot Zeager. She was preceded in death by a brother Rev. James S. Kiefer.

Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 27, 2014 in Mount Calvary Church, 625 Holly St. Elizabethtown, PA. Visitation will be from 1pm until 2pm on Friday, June 27, 2014 in the church.
