Margaret K. (Peg) Pollock, loving mother and wife of 67 years to the deceased Raymond S. Pollock, passed away peacefully with family by her side, Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Masonic Village-Elizabethtown, PA.
She was 90.
Born November 11, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA, Peg was offered a scholarship to study music at Carnegie Mellon University but chose to work as a secretary/receptionist for a group of physicians for a few years until she joined her husband in Florida, where he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.
After their children were born, Peg’s unwavering devotion to her family was her full-time job.
She served as a Den mother and assisted with Girl Scout activities along with volunteering at many school functions.
As her children grew, Peg could always be seen on the side-lines supporting her children’s athletic events.
Peg had a love for cooking, always trying new recipes.
Her love for music and reading books continued even though she was legally blind from Macular Degeneration.
A long-time resident of Springfield, Peg was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for many years where she served as a Deacon and Circle Chairman, and was a member of the church choir.
She was also involved in numerous ministry outreach programs.
A homemaker extraordinaire until her children were grown, Peg then worked for the Insurance Institute of America for 10 years; yet, still made time to serve others by delivering Meals-On-Wheels and actively engaging in other volunteer activities.
She is survived by her sons Rick (and wife, Carol) Wayne, and daughter Jan Parmiter (and husband, Jim), 6 grand-children, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild
