Mamie F. (Via) Wood

Mamie Frances (Via) Wood, 96, of Palmyra, passed away at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra, with family by her side on Sunday, May 12, 2013. She was born Tuesday, May 1, 1917 to the late Roger and Clara (Garrison) Via. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph E. Wood on December 26, 1980.

Mamie dedicated 33 years to the Hershey Chocolate Company, where she worked in the Wrapping Department. She was a member of BCTGM Local 464 Chocolate Workers Union. She enjoyed gardening and was passionate about cooking. Mamie was a selfless woman, always doing for others. Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Miller and husband Donald of Palmyra; a step-son, Sherman Wood of Cleona; 3 grandchildren, John Miller and wife Lisa of Annville, Jim Miller and wife Lori of Cornwall, Brenda Houser and husband Ken of Middletown; 2 great-grandchildren, Anthony and Olivia Miller of Annville; and a sister, Doris Day of Palmyra. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a step-son, Herbert Wood; and a sister, Lillian Camp.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 16th at 11 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Emeritus Preacher Norman Marks and Pastor Chris McAviney officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Annville.
