M. Virginia “Ginny” Flynn, 93, passed away February 18, 2025, at Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Carlise, PA. Virginia was born on September 18, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Howard R. and Hulda Stewart Elicker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Flynn; and two brothers, Howard G. Elicker, and Harold R. Elicker. She is survived by her sister, E. Jean Jacobs of Grove City, PA; her son, Todd E. (Peggy) Flynn, of Eighty-Four, PA; two daughters, Bonnie J. (Steve) Lyons of Pocono Pines, PA, and Holly J. (Chris) Lawrence of Camp Hill, PA; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ginny was involved with the American Cancer Society as the Director of Daffodil Days in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. She served as Judge of Elections in Hampden Township and Peters Township. Ginny was a long-time member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park, PA and served as a Deacon for many years. She was a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) for many years and volunteered many hours in community service. She and her husband, Bob, loved making memories with their children and grandchildren at the Cottage along the Allegheny River in Emlenton, PA. Ginny had a great love of music and the performing arts. Turning the radio on was her priority each morning. She also enjoyed “tole painting” and her children still cherish all her many creations.
There will be a private family gathering at Plum Creek Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, at a later date.
