Lucas R. “Luke” Hostetter

Lucas R. “Luke” Hostetter, 38, of Leola, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 29, 2015 of natural causes.  He was born February 3, 1976 in Tucson, Arizona to Larry E. and Mary Jane (Richard) Hostetter.

Luke was a good, kind and hard working man, although most well known for his humor.  He was an avid soccer fan who occasionally traveled to see US Men’s Soccer.  He played soccer at Elizabethtown High School plus a season at Elizabethtown College.  He was an avid reader of poetry and novels and was an aspiring short story author.  A video-gamer and music lover, he especially enjoyed alternative rock music of the 80’s and 90’s.  He enjoyed spending time with his loving friends and family including his nephew and niece to whom he was known as “Uncle Duke”.  He was most recently a cook and previously, a sous chef and a Toyota Certified Technician.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Mary Jane Hostetter, of Elizabethtown; a brother, Jesse J. Hostetter, of East Petersburg; a nephew, Caleb X. Hostetter and a niece, Cecelia M. Hostetter, both of East Petersburg as well as his extended family and caring friends.  He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Vernon and Lois (Barrett) Richard as well as his paternal grandparents, Jay and Evelyn (Brandt) Hostetter.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11 AM at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 South Mt. Joy Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022 with Pastor Pamela A. Reist officiating.  Family and friends are invited for visitation with the family following the memorial service on Saturday.  Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Peace Memorial Garden at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren.  Miller-Sekely Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown has been entrusted with the arrangements.
