Lieutenant (Retired) Harold Joseph Lacey, Pennsylvania State Police, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence in Harrisburg.  He was born Wednesday, May 12, 1954 in Wilkes-Barre to the late Harold E. and Florence (Godlewski) Lacey.  He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Carol R. (Rinehimer) Lacey.

He graduated from E.L. Meyers High School in 1972, attended Penn State University where he was a member of Kappa Delta Rho (KDR) Fraternity, and graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.  He retired with the rank of Lieutenant following 33 years of decorated and honorable service to the Commonwealth.  He enjoyed sailing, reading, bicycling, and was a formidable board game opponent and dedicated fan of Penn State Football.  Most of all, he was a loving husband and father who will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by a daughter, Lauren E. Lacey of Palmyra; a son, Scott H. Lacey of Palmyra; a sister, Cindy A. Silverman and husband Bruce of New Freedom; an aunt, Julia J. Citsay of Palmyra; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel D. Lacey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 24 th at 11 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as Celebrant.  Family and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, September 23 rd from 7 to 9 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra.  Full honors will be performed by the Pennsylvania State Police Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, 1701 Lingelstown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Palmyra Area Recreation & Parks Commission, 325 South Railroad Street, Palmyra to help promote an active lifestyle for underprivileged youth.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.rothermelfuneralhome.com
