Louise (Brandt) Evans
Louise (Brandt) Evans, 83, of Palmyra, passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. She was born Sunday, May 4, 1930 in Palmyra to the late Otto Fredirich and Magdelena Edna (Early) Brandt. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard K. Evans.
She is survived by a son, Douglas Evans and wife Yvonne Milspaw of Hummelstown; 3 daughters, Jeanine Parker and husband Vernon of New Glasgow, NS, Joyce Lugar and husband Christopher of Aylesford, NS, and Barbara Evans and companion William Over, Jr. of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren, Wesley Evans of Hummelstown, PA, Brandt Evans and wife Mary of Warren, RI, Nicole Parker of Ottawa, ON, Todd Gorski-Parker and wife Genevieve of Toronto, ON, Geoffrey Lugar and wife Jennifer of Ottawa, ON, Alexander “Sandy” Lugar of Regina, SK, and Rory Coble of Pittsburgh, PA; and a sister, Alma Eshelman of Columbus, OH. She is predeceased by 3 siblings, Dr. Frederick Brandt, Laura Savastio, and Mary Byers.
She earned her x-ray technician certification at the Reading Hospital where she was employed for several years. She later pursued a career with State Farm as an insurance underwriter. Louise like to keep her hands busy, she was a master seamstress as well as a master cabinet maker. She kept her mind and body active with her membership in the Gretna Springs Book Club, dancing to big band music, and traveling North America extensively. Louise was a former member of Cornwall Methodist Church and the League of Women’s Voters. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15th at 3 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Rev. Audrey Finkbiner officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 2 PM until time of the services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
