Louis R. Sidler

Louis R. Sidler, 76, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care of Mt. Joy with his loving family by his side. He was born Sunday, January 31, 1937 in Lancaster to the late Werner and Ruth (Hutton) Sidler. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carmen V. (Echalar) Sidler.

He was retired as MSG from the US Army, having served during Vietnam. Following his faithful service to his country, he worked at Three Mile Island and Hershey Foods in security. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and weekly fellowship with retired veterans. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and “Pappy”.

He is survived by a son, Bret W. Sidler and wife Susan of Cornwall; a daughter, Crystal R. Rehak and husband of Cory of Baltimore, MD; two granddaughters, Isabelle and Ava Rehak; a step son, Juan Barrenechea and wife Helga of Germany; two step grandsons, Patrick and David Barrenechea; three sisters, Nancy Clarke, Judy Stallings, and Karen Ganzle; a brother, Michael Sidler. He was predeceased by a grandson, Eli Sidler.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 29 ^th at 11:30 AM at the Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10:30 AM until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
