Lois J. (Longenecker) Kreider

Lois J. Kreider, 94, of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born Sunday, March 10, 1929 in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late Phares and Kathryn (Hersh) Longenecker. She was married 53 years to Wilmer H. Kreider who passed away in October 2004.

A farm wife most of her life, she and her late husband farmed Lois’ family homestead. She was a member of Bossler Mennonite Church, Elizabethtown and was known as a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She loved gardening and flowers, and enjoyed trips to Longwood Gardens. Lois also enjoyed walking in the woods, collecting seashells, and nature as a whole.

Surviving are three children: James W. Kreider and wife Janie of Placentia, CA; Jean E. Breneman and husband Ken of Elizabethtown and J. Richard Kreider and wife Peg of Elizabethtown; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a brother Wilmer Longenecker and wife Rhoda of Landisville. Lois was predeceased by a son Leslie E. Kreider, a daughter Carol L. Leigh, a grandson James Tyler; and four siblings: Esther Hiestand, and Becky, Howard and Phares Longenecker.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 from 5:30- 7:00 PM. Interment will be private. A Celebration of Lois’ life will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Bossler Mennonite Church, 2021 Bossler Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 10:00 AM.
