Lawrence “Larry” D. Knerr, 82, of Palmyra, joined the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at The Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was born Monday, October 12, 1931 in Pitman to the late Claude and Mazie (Kehler) Knerr. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce M. (Shutt) Knerr.
He retired from Alcoa where he worked in maintenance, was a faithful member of Lawn EC Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was a skilled craftsman and selfless with his time in caring for others. Most of all he was a loving family man who lead quietly by the light of Christ.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda J. Roth and husband Todd of Hershey, and Barbara J. Shertzer and husband Kirk of Annville; three grandchildren, Jennifer A. Roth Klain and husband Dan of York Haven, Kirk T. Shertzer and fiancé Ashley Stere of Annville, Megan A. Grunden of Annville; three great grandchildren, Aiden Grunden, Leah Grunden, and Baron Shertzer; three sisters, Hilda Stehr, Ida Kramer, and Merle Hipple; a sister-in-law, Ruby Knerr; a brother-in-law, Robert Shutt; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Charles Knerr; a sister, Alma Smink.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 23rd at 10 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Bill Stoffel officiating. Burial will follow in the Hepler’s Church of God Cemetery, Pitman. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Sunday, June 22 nd from 5 to 7 PM and Monday from 9 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.
