Laura T. Hoffman

Laura T. Hoffman, 108, a resident of Messiah Village since 1884, entered peacefully into her Savior's arms on October 4, 2025. Born in Carland, MI on August 24, 1917, she was the daughter of the late S. Emery and Ada H. Turner.

She left her Michigan home in 1931 to attend the Messiah Academy and Missionary Training School in Grantham, PA, graduating in 1935. She attended Messiah College for a single year in 1937-38 where she met her future husband, the late Clair H. Hoffman. The two were married on August 27, 1940, and enjoyed 53 years of marriage prior to her husband's death in 1993.

After raising her three children, Laura worked several jobs in the succeeding years, the highlight of which was her year service along with her husband as hostess and host respectively at the Kenbrook Retreat Center in Lebanon, PA. She was a passionate follower of Christ and was a lifelong member in several Brethren in Christ congregations. Laura will be most remembered for her personal Godliness, kind and gentle spirit, and devoted prayer life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, an accomplished musician, phenomenal cook and baker of pies, and lover of roses.

She is survived by a son, J. Lynn of Carlisle, PA, two sons-in-law, Christian Strickler of Elizabethtown, PA, and Donald Bauman of Raleigh, NC, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by a brother, Orville, two daughters, Constance E. Strickler and Jean C. Bauman, a daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Hoffman, and two grandchildren.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at the Messiah Village Chapel at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah Village Endowment Fund in honor of Laura Hoffman.
