Larry V. Goodling

Larry Victor Goodling, 87, of Elizabethtown, formerly of York passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.  He was born Wednesday, February 15, 1928 in York to the late Nevin and Pat (Stallsmith) Goodling.  He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sylvia F. (Kleckner) Goodling.

Larry was a graduate of North York High School.  He proudly served in the United States Navy and retired from Caterpillar.  Larry was a member of Sell Chapel and an active former member of Shiloh UCC.  He was also a member of the Shiloh Lions Club and Freemason.  Larry enjoyed gardening and was an avid golfer, often playing Grandview Golf Course in Shiloh; he had the proud accomplishment of making 3 1/2 holes in one.  He also was a popular entertainer playing piano at many events.  Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

He is survived by a son, Darryl Goodling and wife Dorothy of York; 3 grandchildren, Freeman Goodling and wife Shonna of York, Brett Goodling and wife Becky of Wrightsville, and Shannon Sinopoli and husband David of Lancaster; 6 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Lexie Hershey of Lancaster, Kylie and Brianna Goodling of Wrightsville, and Cameron and Colby Goodling of York; 2 siblings, Jeff Kline of York and Shirley Potts of Shrewsbury; a daughter-in-law, Lauren Goodling of York; and his first wife, Dorcas Goodling of York.  He was predeceased by a son, Brian Goodling; and 2 siblings, Thomas Goodling and Kaye Brown.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown 17022 with Rev. A. Preston Van Deursen officiating.  Friends and family are invited for visitation from 9 AM until time of the service.  Inurnment will follow in the Masonic Village Columbarium.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown 17022.
