Kramer Earl Williamson, 63, of Palmyra, passed away at York Hospital on Sunday, August 4 th as a result of injuries sustained in a sprint car racing accident on Saturday, August 3 rd at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA. He was born Monday, June 26, 1950 in Columbus, OH to the late George E. Williamson, Sr. and Alfreda (Furlong) Williamson. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon (Beahm) Williamson.
He graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1969, Williamsport College of Technology, and served in the PA Air National Guard. He was well decorated sprint car builder and driver earning many awards including induction into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and the URC Hall of Fame in 2008, York County Racing Hall of Fame in 1994, Lebanon County Sports Hall of Fame in 2011, 1976 and 1978 track championships at Williams Grove Speedway and Selinsgrove Speedway, 1969 track title at Silver Spring Speedway, 3 URC Championships, over 150 career wins including wins against the World of Outlaws including the 1978 Williams Grove National Open. He was a member of Brownstone Lodge #666 F&AM in Hershey and the Harrisburg Consistory. Racing was a family experience that forged loving and learning relationships with his family. He was a loving husband, father, friend and racer who will be missed by many.
He is survived by a son, Kurt K. Williamson of NC; a daughter, Felecia D. Williamson of Conshohocken; a brother, George E. Williamson, Jr. and wife Kelly of Hummelstown; mother-in-law, Phyllis Beahm; sisters-in-law, Sandy Daniels and Tina Beahm; numerous nieces and nephews; two K-9 companions, Summer and Kozmo.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 8th at 11:00 AM at the Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Rev. Douglas Smith officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Wednesday, August 7th from 5 to 9 PM with Masonic Services at 7 PM and on Thursday from 9 AM until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
