Kenneth J. Geltmacher

Kenneth J. Geltmacher, 81, formerly of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a brief battle with cancer. Ken was born in Marietta to the late Harry S. and Emma (McLaughlin) Geltmacher. He was married to the late Hope Yvonne (Cassim) Geltmacher, who passed away in June 2005.

Ken worked for the former ITT Grinnel in Columbia for 45 years as an inspector. He attended Columbia High School, and was baptized in the Christian faith. He enjoyed flower gardening, working outside, and going to his grandkids birthday parties. Ken was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State fan. Ken’s family would like to express their thanks for the years of service from Meals on Wheels in Mount Joy.

He is survived by two daughters: Vickie J. Huck (Charles E.) of Marietta and Donna Rettew (Richard) of Bainbridge; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers: Dan Geltmacher (Connie Whiteleather) of Wrightsville, and George Geltmacher (Mary Lynn Geesey) of Columbia; and two sisters: Myrna Shearer of Mount Joy, and Bernice Ochs (Richard) of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Grace, sisters Edna Mary Sanger, and Anna Mary Ruby, and brother Harry “Sonny” Geltmacher.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547, with Pastor Mark Habecker officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bainbridge Cemetery.
