Kathryn "Kitty" L. (Loucks) Vera

Kathryn L. “Kitty” (Loucks) Vera, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 29, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Marietta.  Born October 15, 1942 in East Donegal Township, she was the daughter of the late Chester S. and Anna M. (Shire) Loucks.  She was married to Douglas H. Vera on October 23, 1966.

Kitty was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a former member of the church council.  She was an avid bowler and enjoyed camping, gardening, hiking and all things outdoors.  She also worked part-time at Weis Markets in Columbia for over 27 years.  Kitty was very special and loved by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband of over 52 years, she is survived by two sons, Matthew D. Vera, and wife, Michele, of Collegeville and Eric L. Vera, of Marietta.  Also surviving are her twin sister, Mary Eppley, and husband, Barry; a sister, Judith Sadler, and husband, Melvin and a brother, Charles Loucks, and wife, Donna, all of Marietta as well as Kitty’s extended family and caring friends.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Aldinger.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1290 River Road, Marietta, PA  17547 with Pastor Traci Glover officiating.  Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia.  There will be a viewing held at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 North Gay Street, Marietta, PA  17547, 717-426-3614.
