Kathryn Pauline (Schweers) “Mom” Geist, 72, of Elizabethtown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital of natural causes.  She was born Thursday, April 1, 1943 in Newville, Lancaster County, to the late Grant and Isabel (Barrs) Schweers.  She was first married to William Geist.  After William’s death, she was a caring companion to Charles Waltz for over 20 years.  Following Charles’ death, she was the loving companion of Donald Toland for over 25 years until Donald’s passing.

Mrs. Geist was a member of the Elizabethtown American Legion Post 329 Ladies Auxiliary and was a life-member of the Elizabethtown Moose Lodge.  Mom enjoyed spending time at the Elizabethtown Senior Center and also at the family cabin in Perry County where she loved to go fishing.  Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She will be lovingly missed by seven children: William M. Geist, of Lancaster; Charles E. Geist, of Germany; Bonnie L. Geist-Mason, of Alamogordo, NM; Vicky A. Farr and husband Todd, of Williamsport; Stanley C. Waltz and companion Christine Leibfried, of Columbia; John M. Waltz and wife Kathleen, of Bainbridge; Christine M. Lachapelle and husband Norman, of Mount Joy; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren as well as Kathryn’s extended family and caring friends.  She was predeceased by a son, James L. Waltz and a grandson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA with Pastor Douglas Hill officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elizabethtown Mennonite Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to view at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.
