Justin Charles Callahan, 34, of New Wilmington, PA, went to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, August 30, 2013 as a result of a lawn mowing accident in Neshannock Township. He was born Wednesday, November 8, 1978 in Brunswick, ME to Jerry E. and Sudie M. (Swisshelm) Callahan.
He graduated from Palmyra High School in 1997, Dusquesne University in 2001 where he played baseball and earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Management, and was currently studying at CCBC Aviation Sciences Center in Beaver Falls to obtain his pilots license. He was founder and president of Callahan Supply, Inc. in New Wilmington, former owner of CW Custom Landscaping in Lancaster, PA and had worked as a landscaper in various capacities. He was a member of the N.W. Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the N.W. Chamber of Commerce where he was active with student staffers at Westminster Cable and Titan Radio, WCN on promotional projects, annual business expo, annual light up the diamond & parade and the early stages of New Wilmington Borough's 150th Celebration. He loved all teams Pittsburgh with a special affinity for the Steelers. He lived with an upbeat, giving, and loving zest that will be missed by all who knew him. He never received a hurt that wasn’t unconditionally forgiven before the paint could dry. He always felt it useless to carry those unnecessary burdens. Though popular, with many gifts and talents, he never sought attention for himself but was always the advocate for the less fortunate and marginalized in his sphere of influence. The material world had little sway over Justin. Relationships were everything to Justin Callahan.
In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by two sisters, Lindsey R. Callahan of Harrisburg and Cortney L. Callahan of Hanover; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Callahan of Hermitage. He was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Ernest Callahan; maternal grandparents, Alvin and Helen Swisshelm.
